Last week's Emerging Technologies class was amazing! Having been in the IT cohort for the last two years, it was amazing to me the number of new technologies that have come about that weren't around in 2006. I listed most of them a few posts ago, but I wanted to recap on a few of them I found to be quite useful.

Twitter is a great program to keep others abreast of information. If you are a coach and need to let your team know that practice is cancelled, before you had to track down all of your players and let them know individually. Now with cell phones being one item that all humans seem to have with them 24 hours a day along with your drivers license and ATM card, you can set up Twitter to text message all of your players at the same time. One message, one result.

Jing will be a perfect addition to the programs I currently use. It allows you to record and capture your operations on your screen and save them as movie files with sound. It will allow me to make small "how to" movies that I can post to this blog, to my web site, or on a CD to let students, parents, and other teachers explore and use their computers.
